Which are the best tennis socks for me?
This often comes down to personal preference. However, here are a few factors you may like to consider:
- Single or double layer
- Sock length
- Padding
- Size
- Environmental impact
Tennis sock length guide
Our range comes in anklet, socklet, and crew length sizes.
Socklet
The socklet size is the shortest because it is cut low below the ankle. This makes them great as a trainer liner for tennis shoes, giving a minimal feel while still offering protection.
Anklet
Also known as ankle socks, these cover the ankle but remain very lightweight. Ideal for tennis shoes, they provide a balance between coverage and breathability.
Crew length
Crew length socks are higher, covering more of your lower leg, but are not as long as calf-length socks. Many tennis players prefer crew length for extra protection from shoe collars and to reduce rubbing during longer matches.
What size do I need?
Sizing is based on UK shoe sizes. Choose the same size sock as your foot size. However, if you have a narrow fitting (D or less for men, B or less for women), or are on the border between sizes, go down a size. The sock should be a snug fit with no wrinkles.
Men’s tennis socks
Sizing based on UK men’s shoe size:
- Medium – 6–8.5 UK (EUR 39–42.5)
- Large – 9–11.5 UK (EUR 43–46.5)
- XL – 12–14 UK (EUR 47–49)
Women’s tennis socks
Sizing based on UK ladies’ shoe size:
- Small – 3–5.5 UK (EUR 36–38.5)
- Medium – 6–8.5 UK (EUR 39–42.5)
Double layer
1000 Mile is famous for its double layer, anti-blister system. The Original 1000 Mile Sock is a sock within a sock, like a twin-skin design.
The inner layer stays with the foot, while the outer layer moves with the shoe, eliminating friction on the skin and protecting your feet from blisters. This design is ideal for tennis, where frequent stopping, starting, and lateral movement increase the risk of rubbing. 1000 Mile socks are designed to protect not just athletes but also people with health conditions where foot care is critical, such as diabetes.
Padded tennis socks
The Fusion anklet tennis sock combines the comfort and protection of padding with the 1000 Mile Double Layer System. This reduces friction and increases blister protection during matches and training.
The padded heel zone helps protect the Achilles tendon and extends around the ankle to guard against discomfort from tennis shoe collars. Padding on the toe and ball of the foot covers common high-impact areas for tennis players, providing extra cushioning during sprints and quick changes of direction.
Recycled socks
Play green with our range of recycled men’s and women’s tennis socks made from 100% recycled materials, primarily plastic bottles. These socks help the planet by reducing energy use, water consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions.
